:: How do I take Zanaflex?
Zanaflex comes in 2mg and 4mg tablets. Always take Zanaflex as directed by your doctor. Do not take more medication than prescribed.
Usual Adult Dose
Oral dosage form (Tablets) – Therapy is usually started at 4mg and gradually increased by 2-4mg to 8mg three times daily with 6 to 8 hours between doses. The maximum daily dose is 36mg. There is limited clinical data on long-term use of Zanaflex.

:: What should I do if I miss a dose of Zanaflex?

The most common side effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, tiredness and dizziness. These side effects increase as dose increases.

Kidney and Liver Disease: The side effects may be more likely due to potential for higher blood levels of Zanaflex. Depending on the severity of your condition, your doctor may need to adjust your dosage. Patients with liver disease should limit their intake of acetaminophen as it may lead to further liver damage.
Dizziness: Zanaflex may cause postural hypotension (low blood pressure when you suddenly change positions) leading to dizziness. Use caution when climbing stairs, rise from lying position to sitting position to standing position slowly to avoid dizziness.
Patients over 65 years old: Dosing should be more conservative as drug effects may be more pronounced due to medical conditions and other multiple drug therapy.
Hallucinations: Rarely, there have been reports of hallucinations when taking Zanaflex. Contact your doctor if you experience any visual hallucinations or delusions.
Do NOT share your Zanaflex prescription with others, this can be a very dangerous practice.
